Remus looked as though he was going to throw up. He was on the train to Hogwarts, and he had never been more terrified than he was right now. He was going to be without his parents. "How am I going to make it through the changes?" Remus mumbled aloud only to scold himself internally. He needed to stop thinking out loud. One day, someone would over hear him, and that was it. He'd be done for.

Remus searched the entire train for a booth that was empty. At last, at the very back of the train, he'd found one. Though it didn't stay empty for long. A young boy, just a few inches short than Remus himself bursted through the door, shutting it with an unbelievably strong slam. The boy, finally realizing that Remus existed, extended his right hand out to Remus. "Hi there. I'm James Potter. And, you are?"

Extending his right hand, Remus shook hands with the boy, then quickly sat down before mumbling, "Remus Lupin." The boy grinned at Remus and sat across from him, but didn't say anything. They both sat in silence, staring out the window.

"Are you sick?" James said abruptly. Remus' eyes flew wide with fear. Oh no. I've been on the train for an hour and people can already tell. Remus swallowed and shook his head, unable to speak. "Oh." the boy muttered.

Slowly, they both began to warm up to each other. Jokes were exchanged. That was until the cart door bursted open. In came a short blonde boy, and a taller, but still short, black haired boy.

"James! We've been looking everywhere for you."

James just shrugged, "I didn't want to be with all the purebloods." Looking at Remus, he gestured to the two boys. "This is Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew." Both boys nodded at him as he waved.

"I'm Remus Lupin." Remus said louder than he had the first time.

The black haired boy, Sirius, gestured to Remus. "You look like a werewolf." The other two boys looked at Sirius with wide eyes while Remus laughed nervously. "What? He does. We have books and books on the subject at home."

Remus rubbed his hands together and forced himself to laugh. "I'm not a werewolf. No way."

Sirius looked doubtful, but he dropped the topic. For the rest of the ride, Remus bonded with the three boys, completely unaware that one day, they would be his best friends.
