Tick Tock
In the end, Danny never knew what to make of Clockwork.
Sure, the Master of Time had helped him out, greatly, twice, which is saying volumes there.
But he could never decide who exactly Clockwork was. He wasn't exactly an ally, at least not directly, and he was no where near friendship. He wasn't even sure if Clockwork's motives were his own. He had called few ghosts his ally, and next to none his friend.
Yet Clockwork was most definitely not a villain, and most definitely not an enemy. Even if Clockwork's motives (his own or not) were dark ones, he would've kept his distance. He might not have looked like the fighting type, but the memory of his single fight with him was not a pleasant one.
So after his third encounter with him, Danny doesn't know how exactly to say goodbye. But Clockwork does. (He knows everything, but Danny doesn't know that.)
Before turning to the portal which looked quite a lot like a clock face, the time-shifting ghost winks at the halfa and his two best friends.
They don't know what to do. Does it mean, "we'll meet again", "don't worry", "good luck"? They'll find out for sure.
Danny doesn't know whether to wink back or frown in confusion. So he does neither. He gives a small smile and raises his hand in a tiny wave.
They do not see how Clockwork reacts. He turns into the portal and is gone.
Edit 1: Added title at top of story, fixed my AN.
AN. I scribbled this drabble down in my notebook late one night, then typed it up on my vacation. Umm, not much else to say...except Clockwork is mysterious, wise love. (heart)
