They had just applied for their marriage license a few hours ago. Now they were sitting on the couch in the living room, watching some random TV show. She was lying down and her feet were in his lap, his hands kneading the stress and the aches and pains of the day out of her swollen feet.

"Are you sure you are ready for this Dan?" Lindsay asked, in a casual voice.

"You havin' doubts?" he asked a little nervously, but kept rubbing her feet.

"No," she paused for a minute, "It's just permanent. It's not something we can take back if things get bad between us," she said softly, now fiddling with her engagement ring that had to be worn on her necklace. "It's forever, ya know."

Lifting one of her legs and putting it behind his back, he crawled up her body, careful to put his weight on his arms and knees. He nuzzled her neck, "Forever is an awfully long time," he whispered softly into her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, in response. "Yeah it is," she agreed, his chin stubble tickling her neck, his talented lips and tongue calming her nerves.

He let one of his hands drop to her 8 ½ month bump, his daughter kicking at the attention, "It's not nearly enough time, Montana," he assured her, sucking lightly on her ear lobe.

A/N: Prompt 'Forever is an awfully long time' from all unwritten. Set directly after 'Screwed Up'.
