so im back-ish. had a little spare time on my hands, and i heard about the FANG writing contest and i figured i'd enter. although halfway through i looked at the rules more carefully and saw that you had to be at least 13, alas im only 12 thanks to being born in the month of june. so that was a big fat sad face on my part :( but then i said what the hell i dont gotta enter that stupid contest (i really wanted to enter :( ) and kept on truckin. so here we are. its super short but the contsest only said up to 500...so yea enjoy i guess

"So the first thing we're going to do," I told him," is push you off the roof."

--------

"Ok. Wait, wha—?" he said, as I kept my promise, pushing him off the roof, and sending him pummeling down to the ground. This could either end really good for Dylan, or really bad. Then again, is it really a loss for me and the flock if he gets flattened like a pancake?

After a moment, I considered flying down to see if he made it. Maybe I should check…

I peered over the roof's tiles, dusty with the desert Colorado sand. Instead of witnessing some form of a crepe-a-la-bird kid, I was graced with the smiling face of Dylan rushing upwards, towards me. I quickly fell back on to the roof landing on my butt. Dylan flew by so fast that my hair and clothes ruffled themselves in his wake. Man, this kid's got some skills! Not that he'd ever surpass my flock and their super kick-ass abilities.

"Wahoo!" Dylan yelled into the wind. I couldn't help but to smile—just a little. I loved the way his honey colored hair fell over his soft hazel eyes. And how graceful he looked flying, despite his little clumsiness at getting the hang of it; and I loved the color of—

What the hell am I saying?

Go with the flow, Max.

Go with the flow? Since when did the Voice become some free-loving hippie? But, go with the flow—I can do. I think…

So I made a slipt second decision, and gave myself a running start off of the roof. I took off and stretched out my wings, just enjoying everything of the moment. Dylan managed to fly over to me without us crashing into each other.

"Now I know why you guys make such a big deal out of this," he told me, "it's freaking awesome!"

I chuckled, "That it is, my feathered friend, that it is."

He grinned, reminding me of a Colgate commercial I saw on T.V. once.

"Come on," I said, equally returning his smile, "Let me show you a few things the flock picked up while spending a little quality time with our friends, the hawks."
