I accidently deleted the story, erasing the reviews and such. Sooo I'm reposting it.

Disclaimer – I don't own Resident Evil or any of the characters.

The German camp – Regenschirm – is of my own creation, as is the character. Though, as you should know, S.T.A.R.S., Umbrella, and Birkin aren't.

Dear friends,

I have committed a wicked crime against humanity. What I have done is unforgivable by anybody's moral code. To this day I wake up pail and covered in sweat remembering the smell of the thick ash driven from the cremation pits. I was a prisoner camp guard at the Regenschirm camp in Germany, one of our most effective disposal death camps in Umbrella's history.

I can't begin to tell you all how extremely remorseful I am, sometimes I even feel like a monster. To this day, most people refuse to believe the viral breakout even happened. I was only a young man at the time; I'd been influenced by what Hitler had done - trying to rid the world of people he deemed unworthy. I was so impressionable at that time in my life that I wanted to join in with Umbrella's plans in anyway possible. But I was rejected because they didn't believe that I was brilliant enough, my heart was broken. But I was called upon later to serve in one of Umbrella's institutions in Germany.

I was overjoyed to say the least. Upon arrival, it was a sight to see, tens of thousands filthy viral slaves with little, if any, will to live and behind them and the overcrowded barracks was the crematorium. Impossible to miss, black ash bellowing up from the ground, then raining down from the sky. I was told by my superior that I was to be in charge of a large group of these infected creatures, also that I had a quota of people that needed to be in the pits. I carried out my orders without a second thought, this went on for years.

Sometime between 1990 and '92, a man known as William Birkin came to boost the spirits of the German camp workers. He was a grand speaker, just to be in his presence was awe-inspiring, and he convinced us that killing all of these viral freaks was a commendable thing. Without even thinking about it, we were ready to follow this man to our deaths. When he was here I got the privilege of speaking to this great man, he took a likeing to my ideas and relentlessness. He told me about dreams of the world being pure again, and all that was in the way was the genocide of all but a select few. His speeches were high-minded and idealistic, like everything could be taken care of with a large enough gas chamber and the right scientific equation.

The day he left I had almost doubled my quota around the camp, taking other worker's loads to liquidate them myself. Months passed and the work was the same, but I was as determined as ever to prove myself to Umbrella. I knew that Umbrella was working for the greater good.. But now that I look back and see what Umbrella has done, I realize that I was wrong. Regenschirm had been infiltrated by this small group of people called S.T.A.R.S.. They had shown everyone what Umbrella has done to the world, what their 'greater good' really was.

But now I realize no person or group of people has any right to try to rid the earth of certain people for their own personal gain. I sincerely apologize to every person I had hurt or killed and every person I had disposed of during my years at the German camp.

Signed,

Anonymous former Umbrella employee
