Author's Note: I was working on other things, and now I have finals…and well, screw that. Time for me to write fanfiction. I'm getting back into DC comics right now, mostly because of my sister, but hey! It's all good. And Tim and Kon are such a cute couple anyway…Don't ask me when this is set. But probably after Kon comes back to life. And I don't know if my characterization is correct, but I hope you enjoy reading it anyway.
He was standing on the roof of the Wayne Tower. Why? Tim wasn't really sure, but he breathed in the night wind. It tickled his nose and made him want to do something crazy. Something outrageous. Not that it could get any more outrageous than wearing a skin tight costume and skipping around catching bad guys in the night. He wanted to do something that was out of character for him. Tim sighed and stared at the faraway ground, leaning slightly over the ledge. The streets below look like long strips of black (he could play tick tac toe on it) and he was so high up he could barely make out the dots that were supposed to be cars.
Tim didn't move or flinch as Kon landed next to him with a soft, "hey."
"Kon," he greeted, but didn't move from his spot. He didn't want to. He could feel Kon studying him.
"What are you thinking about?" Kon asked, once it was clear Tim had little intention of speaking much tonight. Tim's mouth quirked into a wry smile.
"A lot of things, Kon. You should try it."
"Hm," Kon said. "What should I think about?"
He was standing behind Tim now, unbearably close. Tim refrained from shuddering. He didn't need Kon to realize anything was different. And he still wanted to something crazy. So, he pointed below them to the faraway street from his too high of a position on the roof.
"If I jump, would you catch me?"
Tim could imagine that Kon had a strange expression on his face. Maybe, Kon was thinking about just how far he would go for Tim. Tim knew he thought about it. He had done it as well. Though, perhaps it was a good thing he failed at cloning Kon.
"Yes, I would," Kon answered seriously. "Why wouldn't I?"
Tim pressed further, wanting to be sure. "Are you able to catch me?"
He felt Kon nod, the motion sending a tiny wave of air to the back of his neck.
"Yeah," Kon said. "You know Superman and I catch those suicidals whenever they jump off a building. It's a breeze."
Then, without warning, Tim tumbled over the ledge. And he was free falling. It was crazy, but he was falling. The rush of the wind was in his hair, his face. It was nothing like flying. Nothing like those leaps and jumps when he practice his gymnastics or leaping and grappling hooks. It was falling. Real genuine falling.
Kon caught him before he fell halfway down.
"What the hell are you thinking? Do you want to die?"
Kon was furious, eyes glowing red. Tim shrugged, "I wanted to see what It's like. To not have any control."
"And you thought jumping off a building was a great idea?" Kon berated as he set them down on a rooftop of a random building.
"Yeah," Tim said. Then, because he did one crazy thing already, he might as well do a second.
"I love you," Tim said casually. "I'm going back now. You should head back before your curfew's up."
He didn't make it to the stairs before Kon grabbed him.
"You can't just say that and leave."
Then, Kon kissed him, and Tim thought he was free falling again.
