Green, Dirty Socks

The young boy had given his sock, green and very dirty sock, indeed.

But was this sock that saved his life from slavery 'till death. Since then, Dobby began to like socks. Common, clear, dark, thin, thick, striped – all kinds the elf would be happy to wear.

And he'd remember fondly the first sock, green, very dirty and bloody sock, indeed.

Besides, Harry Potter, sir, had given him this first pair. In the Christmas, so, Dobby knitted beautiful socks for Harry Potter. He chosen one to be electric green, but the other in the pair was black and yellow, striped. Dobby thought that if they were different from each other, you could wear more socks.

One that he gave to Harry Potter, sir, had to be green, because green was the color of his first sock.

Even though it was very dirty and bloody. Even though this sock was within an old, blasted book that his former master had thrown at him, carelessly.

The sock had to be green, because were also green the eyes of the person who stared at him before the elf die, holding his bloody and dirty body, exactly as Dobby held – years sooner – the sock that gave him freedom.
