She sat by the river, wondering what had happened, while he stood behind her. She never even knew he loved her, and she never even knew. She scooped the water up into her hand, letting it drip in between her fingers, watching as the water melted back into the river, as if it had never been split in the first place. He reached out, walking forward, and laid his hand on her shoulder, sighing. He had to tell her, he just had to, or he would never know if she felt the same way. Sitting down next to her, he took her chin in his hand, and turned her face to look at him. Her eyes stayed, looking away, but the tear streaks on her face is what caught his attention. Crying. . . She was crying. . . because of him. He felt so ashamed, so guilty; he had made her cry. So he did the first thing that came to his mind. . . he hugged her. He grabbed her arms, pulled toward him, and threw his arms around her, hugging her as she just leaned against him, stunned by this.
"I love you."
She didn't know what to say, so she said how she felt,
"I love you too."
And with that, she hugged him back, as the sun started to set, making the river sparkle in all it's glory as the two lovers hugged each other. Forever to stay close.
