The Ballad of Willy Dilly
I once knew a shrew named Willy Dilly
By the fur that lad wos silly
He had a boat and wife named Milly
Who he refused ta leave
He cherished them like the bright blue sky
He'd stare at them and he'd often sigh
Without them he knew he'd surely die
They were his life and treasure
Well one day his wife got mad
And said ta him, "I'll tell ya lad
Pick which one o' us makes ya glad
Or I'll leave on the double."
Well our friend, poor Willy shrew
He didn't know just what ta do
He loved his boat, and his wife too
Oh wot a life ta live!
Milly woke the following mornin'
And on that boat her mate wos boardin'
The anchor wos up and the flag wos soarin'
He raised his voice to her.
"I'm sorry, love, I've been a bother
You'd have made a great old mother
But I will never love another
As much as I do me boat!"
So with his paw still up and wavin'
And with his wife still mad and ravin'
He sailed on down the river sayin'
"I'll always love me boat!"
