The story of Annie, and how she was left alone and pregnant.

Because even if you're mad, you can love.

Day of the News

Annie crumbled up the letter and threw it on the ground. She began to sob. He was gone. How was she going to go on? She fell into a world of darkness. She'd been so exicted to tell him, now she'd never have the chance. He wouldn't come home. Who would save her from her own darkness? Who would hug her in the night and whispher soothing words in her ear? Annie Odair was alone and pregnant. How would she live without him?

After 2 months

Annie touched her stomach. She was getting bigger. She clung to the hope that her baby - their baby - would be just like their father. They would be brave, and loving. Their child would be special. Her child would be special to her anyway because they were a part of him. And she loved her baby because they were the only reason she was still alive.

After 4 months

Katniss and Peeta visited her regularly. They always said such kind things about him, and about how sorry they were. Annie knew it wasn't their fault and she didn't blame them for his death. Her baby kicked and Annie hadn't known what to do. She called Katniss and asked her things because she knew that her mother was a healer. Annie took comfort in knowing that Katniss was there to help her with this. She couldn't do this alone.

After 6 months

Katniss was Annie's best friend. Katniss had comforted her as she cried one night. Katniss admitted to Annie that she still had nightmares, and how she wished she could have saved him. Annie cried, as did Katniss, as they remembered him. Annie somehow knew that her child would be like him, and that they would be strong and brave and ready for everything the world threw at them.

After 9 months

Annie held her baby boy in her arms. He had the same hair as his father, and he even had the same shade of green irises. Katniss had said that he would be a ladies man. Annie smiled at that. She knew her boy would be just like his father, capturing hearts everywhere he went. Her son's name was Finnick Odair Jr. He would never forget his father. He would know eveything about the father he never had a chance to know. In a way, the war made her stronger. But the hurt never really goes away. You simply learn to live with it.

End.
