Flute
I'm almost a little surprised. I think I never really realized we were all going to die, even though everyone knew. It was talked about, laughed about, and yet it never really registered with me. Maybe because I was a bit wrapped up in everything, the poetry, the dream.
It's not that it bothers me. It's just a bit surprising.
I'm almost glad. This way I won't have to watch all my friends die, and I'll be there to greet them when they follow where I'm going.
I played a flute.
Strange thing to think of, but I'd been neglecting it for the sake of a gun. I haven't played in such a long time; I was too busy making bullets and plans.
But of course we all followed Enjolras. He was our leader. And he wanted us to give up pleasure to raise a revolution for the people.
Enjolras. We all followed him, but I have a feeling he'll be the very last to leave the barricades. When everyone else has gone, he'll still be fighting.
Gone. I shall be gone. It was stupid, really, to let myself be captured. I should have fought harder. It's not the dying…it's just that I wanted to die on the barricade, which was built from our dreams. Wouldn't it have been nice if what we're doing meant something to the people? The fact that we're fighting for them - if they understood and wanted to fight with us, wouldn't that make it feel more worthwhile? But we fight anyway. If they won't support us, we'll stand on our own. Make it real, what we believe.
Well, I'm not going to go without giving voice to our Revolution
"Long live France! Long live the future!"
Is it a flute I hear playing…?
