Noughts and Crosses: A Happy Ending:
Callum:
'I LOVE YOU CALLUM' Sephy was screaming.
'I LOVE YOU TOO SEPHY' I screamed back.
'STOP EVERYTHING' A man called…
…Wait a minute, I know that voice. That's Kamal Hadley.
'Dad?' I heard Sephy say.
'Stop this' Kamal said.
'Dad what are you doing?' Sephy's voice was full of hope, confusion and fear.
I didn't hear what was said next, but the next think I knew the noose was being removed from around my neck, and the hood was taken off my head. What was going on? Had Kamal Hadley just saved my life? He hated my guts, why would he do that?
Oh never mind why, I should just be thankful that he did.
'Come on' A cross police officer pulled me back to the cells. Before he pulled me away, I saw a horrified looked on every cross face.
Sephy:
'Dad?' I looked at him properly. I was trying to work out why he had saved Callum. I was more than glad he had, I just didn't understand why.
'Don't look at my like that Persephone' Dad's voice was harsh. 'You got what you wanted, your precious blacker is still alive. He'll be out of jail in a few years, so it's all coming up perfect for you. Now get out of my sight, I never want to see you again'
I still didn't understand why he had done this for me, then disowned me. I didn't question though, I just walked off. I was more than happy to have nothing to do with him. And I was sooo happy that Callum was alive.
'I want to see Callum' I said, less than politely when I reached the reception. I was led into a visiting room and Callum was brought in. He looked very small and unwell.
'Sephy!' He smiled, when he saw me. 'What's going on? Your dad?'
'I don't know why, but Dad saved you' I answered, 'And you'll be out of jail in a few years.' I smiled, tears of happiness filling my eyes, 'You're going to see our baby grow uo'
Callum didn't answer. I think he was just trying to get his head around what was going on.
3½ Years later:
Sephy:
'Callie' I called. It's her 3rd birthday and today is the day Callum gets out of jail. 'D'you know what day it is?' I asked when she was next to me.
'Daddy's coming home' She answered jumping up and down.
Callum:
Today's the day! I can finally go home! It's my little girl's 3rd birthday and I can spend it with her. Today and everyday.
'Daddy' Callie Rose ran up to me. I picked her up and hugged her. I saw Sephy standing by the door and smiling.
'Let's go' She said and linked her arm in mine as we walked away.
I'm not naive enough to think that it'll all be perfect, or that me, Spehy and Callie Rose, will be left in peace. No, I know there will be trouble, but I will face that when it comes. For now I've gotta go to my little girl's birthday party.
