Into the Light

The world comes crashing down on her,
Breaking into a million pieces,
Until only darkness remains.
There is no light,
No hope,
For her to hold onto.
Happiness becomes
A thing of the past.
She watches
And sees nothing.
She listens
And hears nothing.
Cruel laughter rings through her head.
Cold sneering faces float in front of her.
When will it end?
She closes her eyes,
Trying to hide from reality,
But, it still finds her,
Mocking her.
It has to end!
A small light,
Brilliant in the dark.
It grows stronger,
Brighter.
A helping hand,
A kind smile.
The girl smiles for the first time.
Maybe,
Maybe,
It won't end,
But now it'll be better.
The light overcomes the darkness.
Hope returns,
An anchoring her to the world.
The shattered pieces come together.
Happiness returns.
She watches,
And sees the bright smiles.
She listens
And hears the merry laughter.
Yes, it'll become better.
It already has.
