Only Tonight

"No."

The tone of voice he used screamed that the decision was final and that it was no use in continuing to challenge him. However, the bun haired brunette that stood between himself and the young blonde wouldn't back down so easily.

"Oh Neji come on," she said exasperatedly, adding an eye roll for emphasis on how ridiculous she thought that he was being. "You know Naruto would never do anything to hurt Hinata. Why are you acting like an overbearing older brother that would beat the living daylights out of anyone who came within fifty steps of his little sister?"

"It is my duty to protect–" Neji started before rudely being cut off.

"Don't start that again," the kunoichi said with another roll of her eyes before she sighed. "Really Neji, Hinata isn't two. She doesn't need you to hold her hand through every step of life. You have to let her spread her wings, be free. Besides, you and I both know Naruto is more than capable of taking good care of Hinata. I promise you, she won't get hurt." She turned to look over her shoulder at the blonde behind her. "Isn't that right Naruto?"

The blonde jinchuriki nodded vigorously. He was really counting on his older sister figure to make this work for him. If she could get Neji to relent and let him take Hinata out for one night to enjoy the festival that was being held, he would be forever in her debt, "Right TenTen."

"See," TenTen said as she turned to look at the Hyūga that stood before her. "Now let them go have fun Neji. Besides, that festival only comes once a year and Naruto missed it last time because he had been out on a mission."

Neji sighed, pale eyes sliding shut, "Fine. But only tonight."

TenTen grinned before leaning over and placing a chaste kiss on his lips, "That's my Neji." She moved to look over his shoulder at the Hyūga heiress that was still standing a few paces behind her elder cousin. "Go on Hinata. Have fun."

A blush cross the indigo haired young woman's features as she nodded before maneuvering around her cousin, grabbing Naruto's hand, and all but dragging him out of the Hyūga compound.

TenTen watched with a smile until they disappeared before turning back to her longtime teammate and lover, her brow irked at the face he was making, "What?"

"You use your power as my fiancée over me far too much," he said before he turned to leave the area. "Far too much."

"And what's that supposed to mean," she asked as she moved to walk beside him.

"It means you know I can't deny you anything," Neji answered as he exited out of the compound and into the gardens, "And you use that to your advantage."

"I don't do it all the time," TenTen said earning a sharp look from the prodigy. "Okay maybe I do but only when you're being stubborn. And that's pretty much all the time Neji so you bring it upon yourself."

"Hn."

She rolled her eyes, folding her arms over her chest before she smiled, "You know if you still feel like you don't trust Naruto enough we can go to the festival–"

She was cut off by him grabbing her by the wrist and pulling her back towards the entrance of the compound.

"Let's go."

I find overprotective Neji to be adorable. I don't even know what compelled me to write this other than those photos. But I like it. Hopefully you did too? Lemme know.
