Summary: Dave see's a little gesture, only subtle, but he still saw it...

Dave's Suspicions

Let's face it; David Rossi is no ordinary profiler. All of the team are great at what they do, but there is something different about Dave. Whereas the others have to stop and think about these things, take a step back from the situation to see the full picture, Dave doesn't need to. He has an uncanny ability to see exactly what's going on. He always thought it as a natural gift that he couldn't stop, he couldn't switch off and that was why he has always found himself breaking the rule of Inter-team Profiling. And why he found himself coming out of retirement. Old habits... He really couldn't help it. And the majority of the time he was right. It was on a rare occasion that David Rossi was wrong about other people; especially with the people closest to him. That was why when he saw what he saw and thought what he thought, he knew that thought had to be true.

It was only a small look. A little glance. A tiny glimmer. But he saw it.

JJ had just finished briefing the team about the latest case and they had all given their initial thoughts about it. The team stood up to leave the conference room and that was when he saw it.

Hotch looked over at Emily and met her eyes. His features softened and the corner of his mouth curled up, ever so slightly. Anyone else wouldn't have seen it – but Dave did.

He glanced over at Emily quickly, to see her reaction. Her eyes softened and a small smile brushed her face. Looking closer, he noticed that she was blushing. Emily Prentiss never blushed, even if it was as subtle as that, she never did.

Dave looked around to see if anyone else had noticed. No-one. Just him. The rest were heading out the conference room, flicking through the files they were just given.

Looking back at Hotch, he saw something in his eyes that had never been there before; at least not since Foyet. Although he did see it make an appearance every time the man spoke of his son, but only then. It was small and subtle, but it was there.

Happiness.

Hotch was happy.

And from the look he had given Emily, Dave made the assumption that she had done this to him.

Well aware of the rules that forbid relationships between co-workers, Dave decided it was best to keep his newly found suspicion to himself. They were happy together and would tell the others when they were ready.

Standing, he gave Hotch a knowing smile, only to be returned by a small and subtle quizzical look from his younger friend. Patting Hotch's back, he winked at Emily before leaving the conference room. Leaving the two both very confused and slightly nervous as to what he was so chipper about.

He knew it was just a suspicion, and a suspicion that wouldn't be proven until they either confirmed or denied it. But he also knew that his suspicions were right. After all – it's Dave.
