Evil Angel
"No!" Persephone shouted, sitting down on the floor stubbornly.
"Why not?" Hades protested.
"Because Zeus is vile and inconsiderate, and even though Artemis is right, he won't be held accountable," she replied simply. That stumped him for a moment; she was right. Still, they couldn't ignore the summons to Olympus, that was exactly what Zeus wanted, wasn't it? His fiancée had no patience for power plays, but the Olympians had been orchestrating such schemes for so long, they couldn't stop now, at least not immediately.
"Persephone, please," Hades said, exasperated. He reached and grabbed her wrist to pull her off the cold stone and without thinking she stung him, searing him with the heat of the summer sun. He yelped and stumbled to the ground, fighting tears. To any other god, it would have been an unpleasant sensation, fading quickly, but Hades' skin was particularly sensitive to heat and light. Agonizing, vine-shaped welts were already spreading across his pale hands.
"Oh, Hades, I'm sorry," she breathed, her voice as soft as falling ash, "I didn't realize…" She knelt before him, eyes welling with glittering tears when she saw the damage she had done to his beautiful skin. She lifted hands to her mouth and kissed the burns away, her touch as gentle as a spring rain, her lips leaving smooth skin in their wake. She continued to kiss his hands long after every mark was erased, her tears splattering against his palms, until he stopped her, and pressed two fingers against her soft pink lips, which parted slightly beneath his touch. He stared at her for a moment; she was so… she could be as gentle as the spring sun, or as harsh as a raging storm. Her touch could destroy, and yet she left beauty in her wake. She took his breath away, terrible and lovely and perfect and everything in between.
"I'm sorry," she whispered.
"I love you," he replied.
A/N In case you were wondering, the title is from the song "Evil Angel" by Breaking Benjamin (Hades' POV). It's an awesome song: check it out.
