You would think she never had the time.
That between
the Carrows,
Snape being a bastard to her students
Time
would be…. hard-pressed
But that never stopped her.
To Minerva McGonagall,
Life could be Unfair
Life could be a jerk, your friend, or the thing you want to end
You could never be able to tell what was going to happen.
Death could appear
Waiting to greet you at the end of a journey
Life could become the thing you cherish the most
(Usually, that isn't in the case)
The case
is Life being unfair, Life being a bully
Taunting you into learning lessons
forcing you to tiptoe through it all.
Nonetheless, not a day went by
when Minerva wouldn't visit him.
The Greatest Wizard of the Century.
Whether it was a simple touch on the grave,
Or hours spent by crying at his side.
Minerva McGonagall isn't easily called weak.
Yet she believes she is,
For one stop at it
(his grave)
Can bring back thousands of memories.
"Please Sir! I want to be an Animagus!"
(or)
"Well done my dear, I believe that is the 58th game you've won."
(or even)
"They are the worst sort of muggles imaginable!"
Just one touch of the smooth marble
One glimpse at the engraved lettering
Reminds her of everything.
Of his lemon drops,
(which she always refused)
And of the twinkle in his eye,
when he receives a pair of woolen socks.
Memories like those
Make her want to break down
And sob
And cry
And shudder
For the wondrous soul
That Life stole.
And when she thought of this
She wondered when her time would come.
Would it be natural?
Would it be accidental?
Would she be defending the students,
Taking her last breath in Battle?
Would she watch the fights?
The bloodshed growing,
students and friends turning against one another?
It is moments like those
In which you question life.
Is there a real purpose
Or were they all puppets,
Toys to be played with
Until Death.
Another attempt at Free verse. A simple three page one, though the longest Free Verse Poem I have ever written. I do not own Harry Potter, and this was simply an audition piece for the "Fanfiction Idol" Challenge going on now. I hope it doesn't seem like I copied anyone since I did a free verse (considering I have no idea how many also wanted to a free-verse). I hope you have enjoyed it.
