It had been a boring, rainy day when Merlin saw him. He was walking through the streets of Glastonbury, where the glorious kingdom of Camelot once stood, when he saw him through a shop window. Same face, same hair, same build.
It was Arthur.
Merlin tried not to panic. He knew this day was bound to arrive. It was destiny for Arthur to return. The prophecy didn't know, however, about the love shared between these two young men back in the time of Camelot. Merlin had lost the love of his life on the battlefield, held him while he died. Since, he'd waited for the day of Arthur's return. All those he knew grew old and passed, but Merlin remained Eternal, waiting for his lost love. And here he was.
He knew this Arthur wouldn't remember him, but he had to speak to him. He opened the door to run inside, but someone in the doorway blocked him, knocked him to the ground.
"Oh, man! I'm so sorry, mate." Merlin shook his head, refocusing himself, and took the stranger's hand. He was hoisted to his feet, and was suddenly face to face with the former King himself. He looked younger, as if this Arthur was the Arthur that Merlin had met when he'd first arrived in Camelot.
"It's fine. Really. I'm fine." Said Merlin shakily. He still couldn't believe this was happening.
"Do…do I know you? You look so familiar."
"Really? I mean, I live just up the road. You've probably just seen me around town."
"No, not possible. My mum and I just moved here from London. Wanted to get out of the big city, you know? Too crowded."
"Yeah."
"Oh! We're blocking the doorway. As my saying sorry for knocking you down, let me buy you a coffee." Merlin swore that as this Arthur turned away, he saw that same flirtatious smirk escape his lips, the one that had graced his face as he'd died in Merlin's arms so many years ago.
"Coffee would be great. Sorry, um. I never caught your name."
"Arthur, my name's Arthur Penn."
"Merlin Ambrosius. Nice to meet you, Arthur Penn." Merlin smiled.
"Odd name, Merlin. I like it. Nice to meet you, Merlin."

I might take a while between update on this story, just because I have another one going at the moment, but I couldn't wait any longer to at least start this one. So what do you think?
