Based off the country song by Lee Brice. I hope you Bethyl fans enjoy!
I was really iffy about posting this because my confidence in how well it is written is pretty low. My confidence in anyone enjoying it, even lower. So, even if it isn't "favorite" worthy, please review and give me thoughts and opinions! It would mean the world. Thank you lovelies so so much! Xoxo!
"Honey, what would you do, if ya never had met me?"
Daryl Dixon looked down at his beautiful wife who was curled up under his arm while they sat on the couch watching the 6:00 news.
Giving a smirk and a slight shrug said, "I dunno."
Beth looked up at him with the teasing look that told him that he wasn't going to get out of answering the question with just an 'i dunno'.
"I could take a few guesses, I reckon."
Daryl paused and looked up at the ceiling as if he was in deep thought. Looking back down at her, he brushed a strand of hair that had fallen into her eyes behind her ear before saying,
"I'd probably do a lot more off shore fishin' and definitely eat more drive through chicken. If I'd never known your name, I'd probably be able to go and try to take a few strokes off my golf game."
"I'd probably still be drivin' that damn motorcycle everywhere I go and I damn sure wouldn't've heard of yoga. I would be a better football fan because lord knows I ain't kept up with the sport since you came around. But, if I never met ya and was still single, I'd defiantly be lookin' for a woman like you."
Daryl could tell he had her attention. He quickly pulled her into his lap and wrapped his arms around her waist. Still looking at her, he continued.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, that I wouldn't trade a single day spent with ya to have things the other way for a 100 years."
Beth laughed and rolled her eyes. Even though she is the one to ask him what she knows he thinks is a stupid question. Daryl might be tough on the outside and she may be the only who see it - but, he is a romantic and she has heard all of his lines.
"Don't roll ya eyes at me, girl. I'm bein' serious. If I hadn't've been so lucky, I'd probably be shootin' pool in my house with Merle and the other guys. I'd be packin' the refrigerator with a bunch a beer for poker every Tuesday night. I'd still have that dirt bike out in the shed, and I wouldn't have one, let alone 5, of those prissy pillows or whatever on the bed."
He smiled when she giggled.
"They're called throw pillows."
"Yeah, those things. Anyways, where was I? Oh, yeah. I sure as hell wouldn't have a bank account and I'd be one of them guys that just keeps the cash in a coffee can or somethin'."
Beth placed a hand gently on the side of his face and placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
"Ya do know how much of a mess I'd be if I didn't have ya here with me, right?" Daryl asked her.
"Yeah, I know. And, I'd be just as much of a mess if I didn't have you."
He places a kiss on her cheek and then whispered in her ear," ya know I get sick deep sea fishin' and you make the best fried chicken. Everybody knows that I have a hopeless golf game. I love the sound of your name. Yeah, sometimes I miss drivin' the motorcycle everywhere. And, goddam, do I love watching ya do yoga. I'll take this gold band on my hand over bein' a single man. Cause, honestly I don't know what I'd do, if I never met a woman like you."
Beth's smiled at the man whose lap she was sitting on and leaned in to give him another kiss. How she got so lucky to find a man as perfect as Daryl Dixon, and have him love her, was beyond her. However, she wasn't questioning it. She was just going to spend the rest of her life loving him in return.
