Naomi stood in line, waiting to get to the front of the queue so she could meet R5 face to face for the first time. In her hand was her book – thebook which had got her through many lonely nights and which held some of her deepest secrets. She let out a nervous breath, wondering if she had made the right decision bringing it. Alexis turned round at the sound and saw the look of worry etched on her friend's face.
"Don't worry about giving it to them Naomi. You and I both know that these songs are good. Have you got the CD inside?"
"Yes, I do. I'm just not sure if this was a good idea any more. What if what I think is great is really just not worth their time listening to?"
Grace chimed in, "Well that's why you put more songs on it than you want for your EP. They are our family remember – R5 family – and they know what record labels are looking for. They'll give you advice on which songs to keep and which ones to cut. You'll be fine."
Naomi could see her friends were trying to help her, but she couldn't help the lump in her throat from being there. R5 were celebrities after all, not to mention talented singers and songwriters. She really did want their help with her EP before she sent the demo to different labels, but that meant putting herself forward and letting them look at her lyrics and hear her music. Her music that literally no one had heard apart from Alexis and Grace. She shook her head, trying to remind herself that she, one of R5's most dedicated fans, was about to meet the band! She felt a rush of adrenalin, mixing her worry with a fresh feeling of excitement and anticipation. Her eyes darted to where Ross was sitting. He looked so perfect, with his beautiful blonde hair and dreamy eyes and his smile and...
"Naomi, wake up! We're almost at the front! This is no time to be dreaming about Ross becoming your knight in shining armour!" Alexis said, smirking. Naomi blushed.
"Well it's not like I can help it! Plus you two always fight over Riker so I don't know what you're saying that to me for!" The three friends laughed together, all blushing at their helpless crushes. Alexis and Grace winked at each other. Just as they turned round, the people in front of them finished speaking to R5, and moved away from the band. Naomi's heart was pounding in her chest, as she walked up to the table, and five sets of eyes looked up at her and her friends.
She was standing in front of R5.
