SUMMARY:"I can't", he says. "You're it for me. There can't be anyone else. Ever. You're my lover, my best friend and Alice's mother. I can't replace you-" Drabble. EdwardxBella.

I look around the dark, dimly lit hospital room and try to sit up straight in bed. I adjust the tiny baby in my arms and gaze into her chocolate brown eyes.

My eyes.

My husband wanted her to look exactly like me and he got his wish.

She's so beautiful.

This is is my daughter.

Alice Cullen.

I bit back a sob and pull my thoughts away from my impending death. I don't want to die.

Previous memories flash through my head and I remember the day I met Edward, the day I realised I was in love with him, the moment when we graduated from high school and went off to college together, when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

The first time we saw our unborn child on the screen in the doctor's clinic.

If only a complication hadn't risen in the last month of my pregnancy.

Either mother or child could survive.

Only one.

Edward wanted to save me.

I couldn't live a life by killing my little nudger.

No way.

I wasn't going to do that.

I chose Alice. My first priority.

Edward and my future had so much potential than the history we share together. I love this man from the bottom of my heart but I'm still leaving him with our girl.

I won't be here for long.

It's time for me to go, to let go, to leave and to go into the light.

I don't want this.

Why did this happen to me? To us? Why?

I'm dying and leaving him all alone. I'm sorry my love.

He'll have his mother and sisters to help him raise Alice and give him guidance when he's down. He won't let anything happen to her as he promised me.

My last wish.

Are miracles possible to happen? Can a miracle happen and can I be there for my family?

If only...

"Take care of her", I tell him softly.

"I will", he vows, tears dripping down his green eyes as he clutches my hand.

"Love her."

"I already do."

"Keep her safe."

"Don't worry."

"I won't."

"Edward?"

"Yes?"

"It's OK for you to move on some day. Find a nice woman who can love our daughter and be a good wife to you. I don't want you to be alone forever. But please, tell Alice about me."

"I can't", he says. "You're it for me. There can't be anyone else. Ever. You're my lover, my best friend and Alice's mother. I can't replace you-"

I cut in. "I don't mind."

"I do."

"I know."

"I love you."

I kiss his knuckle. "You know what I think."

He nods. "Forever and always, Bella. I remember."

"Good", I whisper. "That's all I'm asking for."
