"No, NO"
He hadn't meant to. She had tripped. He had reached out to catch her. A blue spark had gone through her body and now she was dead. The rosy tint of her skin replaced by a grey one. The glint in her eye was glazed over. And she was cold. The warmth that she had radiated was gone.
Ned stared at her
"No you can't be dead. Please don't be dead." He shook her gently as though he could shake the life back into her. "I didn't mean to please… Chuck please wake up…wake up…CHUCK!"
He held her limp body to himself. Her skin was so supple. Her hair flowed through his hands. She seemed delicate in his arms
His lips found hers. She tasted like vanilla; from the pies she had tasted for him this morning. And she did smell like honey. But her lips, Her lips just made the tears come streaming down his face. They were the softest, gentlest things about her
He laid her on the ground still crying. He stayed there half crouched over her, his tears dripping onto her dress and leaving little round wet spots.
"I'm so sorry, Chuck"
