First romance-y fic. I hope you enjoy it :D
Wind rustled through a field of wildflowers. The colours of the plants seemed to shimmer in the warm sunlight, as clouds floated gently across the sky.
Footsteps sounded in the grass, and a blue-haired prince, known to the other residents of the Smash Mansion as Marth, bent down, and gently picked a pink orchid from the patch.
He stared at it with happiness sparkling in his eyes. He thought of the one he loved, known as Princess Peach, and he began to smile.
She'll love this so much! he thought. She'll definitely accept my offer of dinner tonight!
He trotted through the field, making his way back towards the mansion. He hid behind a tree, peering around it to see Peach sitting on a bench alone.
Now's my chance!
Hiding the flower he picked behind his back, he made his way over to her. "Hi Peach," he greeted.
"Oh hi, Marth!" Peach smiled at him. The kindness in her eyes was genuine, as expected from the princess. Marth couldn't help but smile even wider.
"I just wanted to-"
Peach looked around him. "Oh look! It's Mario!"
Marth turned around to see the red-capped plumber walking towards them.
"Hello, Marth," he said. "How are-a you today?"
"I'm fine," Marth replied. "I was just about to-"
Mario walked around him, taking Peach's hand. "So, when shall-a we be going?"
Marth's eyes widened. "Where are you going?"
"Mario asked me to go for dinner with him," Peach answered sweetly. "Isn't he kind?"
"Uh... y-yeah..." Marth stuttered, unsure of how he should feel.
Peach turned back to Mario. "We can go now, if you like."
Mario nodded, helping the princess up. Peach turned back towards Marth. "Was there something you wanted to ask me, Marth?"
"Um..." Marth looked down. "No, nothing. You go have fun."
"Alright. Thanks, Marth!"
Marth watched as Peach and Mario walked away, and he looked back at the flower in his hand. One of the petals fell off, floating down gently to the ground. He could feel his heart shattering, and his eyes began to water. He let the rest of the flower drop, and began to make his way back to the mansion.
"So much for my happy ending..." he muttered sadly.
I wonder why I decided to make this...
...
Oh well! I'll never know!
It would make me happy if you reviewed :)
(And yes, I know this story is short)
