Matoi Ryuko, the only one that had the power to defeat Life Fibers with her scissor blade, had been defeated by Ragyou Kiryuin and her Kamui(Power Clothing), the Ruler of Life fibers.
Life fibers, a parasite that takes form as clothes, had completely covered the earth. There was not one person left.

The tree of Genesis awoke when earth's inhabitants, the Humans, had advanced too much in technology. The tree had come to "reset" earth. But it awoke at the same time as the Life Fibers did.
The power of the Tree of Genesis had overwhelmed the Magician of Exodus. The Magician of Genesis could no longer control the tree. While Red Life Fibers covered the skies and trapped the earth in a red cocoon, the Tree of Genesis wrecked havoc on the surface of the earth. Entire cities were crushed with one crush of the Tree's tendrils. The tree of Exodus, who was struggling to survive, tried to fight back, but was destroyed by the Tree of Genesis's full power.
THE ENCOUNTER
The tree of Genesis ripped through the layer of Life Fibers, and the original Life Fiber's clothing, which fed on the blood of humans, wrapped themselves around the great tree. But there wasn't enough life fibers to cover every corner of the Tree of Genesis, whose root originated from the center of the earth and throughout the earth.
The Genesis tree ripped through the Life Fibers. The tree then reached upwards and tore a few gigantic holes in the layer of Life Fibers.
Control of the Life Fibers and the Genesis tree rocked back and forth, each regenerating before another attack could commence.
The mother of Life Fibers, Ragyo, got impatient and she herself went down to the battlefield. A few possessed people came with her to the center of the earth. They were preparing to burn down the Genesis tree from the inside out.
