Kitty and Sarah were watching little Galen and his sister Rose as they crawled about using the furniture to haul themselves to stand on their own feet. Galen saw the kitty in the corner it was obvious he wanted to play with it but he was reluctant to let go of the chair leg. They heard the steady clop of Buck as Matt rode up to the house, Kitty hoped the twins would wait until Matt came through the door, both Galen and Rose turned their heads as the door opened and Matt came through the door. "Dada, Dada," they chorused then forgot the chair leg and the kitty they launched themselves into their first tottering steps, Matt swept them up into his embrace, Kitty joined him and hugged him and the twins close to her.
"I hoped they'd wait until you came in and they did."
Festus, Newly and Doc came in as Matt was sat in his chair with the twins holding his legs as support, Kitty sat next to Matt, and Doc took a seat on the other side of Kitty. This time the twins launched themselves more successfully at Doc. "Wall, Golly Bill," Festus said. Rose lifted her arms up to Doc; he lifted her onto his knee, smiling down.
"Ganpa," she pulled Doc's moustache, Doc rubbed his lip, and everybody laughed.
"Doc, do you remember saying you couldn't wait to be a grandpa," Doc nodded. "Do you still like being a grandpa?" Kitty asked.
"How are the plans coming along for tomorrow?" Doc asked.
"Just fine Doc," Matt said. "Frank Reardon will be here tomorrow morning; he doesn't know about the kids yet. Festus is going to meet the train and bring him here."
"Frank's not been here since he finished hunting the men who killed Maria," Doc said, Matt nodded. "I was at Emmett Bowers place the other day, he tells me Keith is turning into a good hand," Kitty and Sarah poured coffee for them all.
The next morning Festus was watching as the Eleven Fifteen train came in, Frank Reardon alighted and shook him by the hand. "Howdy, Festus, Matt in his office?" he asked.
"Na, come on I'll take you to his house."
"House?" intrigued Frank followed Festus to the house, Matt looked up as they entered.
"Howdy, Frank," the twins stared up at the strange man.
"Horsey, Dada," Galen said bouncing on Matt's leg.
"Matt? What is all this?" Kitty came in with Doc and Sarah.
"Frank, it's good to see you," Kitty said.
"Kitty, your letter mentioned nothing about all this."
"Frank," Doc said, "Matt and Kitty married a little over three years ago. "And these two little ones are one year-old today," Frank sat on the right hand side of Matt.
"Never thought you'd ever take the plunge?"
"Down, Dada," Matt lowered them down and they hauled themselves up and toddled to Frank.
"We called them Galen and Rose," Kitty announced that the meal was ready in the next room, Matt and Kitty lifted the twins up and everybody went into the dining room. After the meal two cakes were produced with the twins names on them in pink and blue icing, Kitty gave a small slice to each of the twins, who tried stuffing the whole slice into their mouths, everybody laughed at the sight of two very happy but messy faces.
