Once in a Bath of Red
X
Gazing with half-lidded eyes, Oz frowned.
The walls and floor were hard, dark grey stone, cracks betraying the otherwise smoothness of the tell-tale age. Metal bars thick and cold that were barley an arm's reach away but seemed so far with ritual circle in black with the pink-red crystals that bound him. The distance didn't bother him as it should, he was quite content laying there, letting the cold seep into his skin.
Numb was a very nice feeling. Especially with aches that wouldn't stop.
Gil didn't want to shoot him. Alice didn't want to leave him. But they did, more so of his fault. He rejected Alice and sent her back. She wasn't the Bloody Black Rabbit, not then, not now, not ever. He wouldn't let her have that terrifying destruction tainting her. He needed his Sun to carry that precious, soft laughter and warmth. Gil, he could never blame him. It was always Oz's problems that cost Gil, its more evident now at the fact he occupying a body not his own. A body that cause so much…chaos.
Laughter bubbled in Oz's chest.
Oh.
Oh.
He got it now. Oh, how he understood. Oz never really existed, only an empty puppet with power untold until Jack had enough strength. It made sense, in a way. Nothing did ever seem right with Oz in the picture. Like an extra, disfigured puzzle piece being forced into a perfect picture.
"Even though you're defiantly here…you're not anywhere."
Oz couldn't agree more with the Cheshire Cat's words. He remembers the then, and the now, of the crumbling of a dimension that was once upon a time, memories. He remembers slaughters, of screams, of raining blood. Of power he could so easily use to destroy the world in a bath of red as he did a hundred years ago. He spends his time wishing he could forget.
Alice…wouldn't be too happy with that though. Forgetting all of it. Because despite everything, he still longed for her smile and laughter. But Alice wasn't here; she was never going be here by his side again. He was okay with that. He had to be, or else he didn't know how he was going to get through this tangled mess.
He closed his eyes and could almost hear a soft, ringing laughter in his mind.

First thing I ever wrote! Very short and probably doesn't make that much sense but I wanted to write something and publish it for the hell of it. Reviews will make my day. ;)
Peace.
