We Always Win

"Hehe, lost little fawn?"

The sleek animal smirked. On its black paws its head rested. Bambi froze, in shock or terror; it was not evident on his face.

"Who are you?"

The animal grinned more, its tail swishing in excitement now. It hadn't had an interesting deer like this one in quite some time. It bolted up, its black pupils shining with delight, its amber outer eye as happy as well.

"I, dear fawn, am a fox."

The fox grinned still; its tail was swishing more now.

"Fox?" The fawn repeated slowly, never hearing or seeing such an animal in his life.

"Yes, a fox. Where's your mother fawn?"

The foxed couldn't contain a barking laugh when he answered 'dead.' "Dead," The fox laughed more, "Priceless. A sob story if I have ever heard." The fox spun itself through the fawn's legs, nipping at each one as it passed. The snow hit its snout when it weaved out, but it didn't notice it under all the laughter at the shaking fawn.

"Now tell me, have you ever heard of a fox? No? Well let me tell you about a fox."

The fox nipped harder at the last leg it passed through, chuckling deeply at the stumbling fawn. "Foxes are tricksters." It smirked over the deer, this was fun.

Bambi's eyes widened, foxes were tricksters. He hadn't known that before. The small animal that was standing over him was cunning. More cunning than he had ever seen. It made him fall over without a second try, a very smart animal. "Foxes are killers." It continued, its teeth grazing his neck. Bambi shivered in fear, and in his ear a shy chuckled was heard. "Foxes…we take what we can." The teeth clamped around his soft neck harshly. Bambi screamed in shock, pain, and fear.

The fox laughed harder, the blood of his victim encrusted over his snout. "And most of all." It said, licking its blood-stained lips and smirking over its dead victim, "Foxes are the ones that always win."

Foxes always win…

Bambi would remember that.
