Crystal Tears
By: Angel aka Kari Kamiya
A.N.- Hey! I wrote this from a dream I had. I'm not sure if it's that good, but *Shrugs*. It's a short KeKari and it takes place when Ken is still the Digimon emperor. Enjoy, and pleez R&R.
The rain pounded down on her as Kari Kamiya raced across the vast plains of the Digital World. Her and the gang had been on their way for the daily trip, but something went wrong. The gate had separated her from Gatomon and the others. Leaving her to fend for herself.
As she reached the top of the latest ridge she stopped in her tracks and gasped. A castle loomed out of the rain. A castle made entirely out of crystal!
The shinning beauty rose towering into the air, the rain glittering of its towering walls. Kari subconsciously began the walk towards it.
It took her a good while but she finally made it. She stopped in front of the open door, her hand stretched gently to the stone, stroking the preciousness of it. She jerked away when she heard a sound from inside. Kari quietly tiptoed inside and hid herself at the foot of a massive stairwell. When she peered out, her startled eyes perceived what she recognized as the Digimon Emperor. He was crouching in a sobbing wreck.
"S...Sa...Sam! I'm so sorry!" he cried out in anguish, "Why not me! I don't deserve to live! ...all I've done! ...Wormmon!"
Kari, despite the obvious danger, approached Ken with pity.
"Ken..." she said softly.
"Huh?" Ken turned around wide-eyed, "It's you?!"
"Is something wrong?" Kari asked gently.
"Only everything!" Ken replied, "Ever since Osamu-chan died! Look what I've done! No one will ever be able to forgive me!"
Following her gut extinct, Kari placed a comforting hand on Ken's shoulder.
"No, Ken, you're wrong!" she said, "People will forgive you, it will just take time!"
Ken's sad eyes turned toward Kari. Searching for something he could not pinpoint.
"Why are you doing this?" he asked painfully, "Why do you care?"
"I can't help but care," Kari replied, "for someone this emotionally torn apart."
The two gave off weak smiles as they looked into each other's eyes. Suddenly, a cold laugh startled the two.
"Having fu emperor boy?" mocked a dark humanoid Digimon, clad in elegant clothes.
"Daemon!" Ken practically spit out the word, "What do you want with me?"
"On, but what makes you think I want you?" Daemon sneeringly questioned.
Ken's eyes shot open and turned to Kari, who had been standing shock still during the entire conversation. His lips mouthed one simple word, run. But it was too late.
"Evil Inferno!" Daemon yelled out his attack, aimed straight for the defenceless child of light.
Ken Ichijouji didn't quite understand why he did it, all he knew was he had to protect Kari. He jumped in front of her using the little strength he had, shielding Kari from the fire. When it dissapitated the young boy collapsed to the crystal floor. Daemon smirked at the boys chivalry and dissapeared from the room, leaving Kari to collapse into sobs besides Ken.
"W...Why did you do it?" she asked between sobs.
"I...I don't know," came Ken's pained reply, "I just needed to protect you."
"Oh, Ken-chan!" Kari cried, "Don't die! Please, don't die!"
"Don't worry," he told her, "I'll be just fine as long as your okay."
"Oh, Ken-chan!" she sobbed, "I forgive you!"
Ken Ichijouji managed one last smile to the first one to give him a second chance before his eyes closed for the last time.
Kari Kamiya sat there, tears dripping down from her anguished eyes to the crystal floor, staining it forever.
A.N.- Well, there it is, what do you think?
