Innocence Lost
On a dismal autumn day,
A daisy sat beside the bay.
A wanderer came by that way,
But didn't stop or care.
The daisy had a story to tell
To the people whose lives had gone well.
Remembering his personal hell
Was a lot to bear.
As the day turned into night,
He knew he wanted to find the light.
He wanted to know what was right,
And he now remembered.
The young boy looking for his place,
Always a smile on his face.
Living on, surviving the race,
Never trying to be heard.
He never shed a single tear,
Never showed a single fear.
Never an unkind word or leer,
Hiding what he felt.
Always dreading the rise of the sun,
Never having any fun.
For somebody so very young,
Playing with what life had dealt.
Then the sky was turning red,
Like blood. The daisy dropped its head,
Cold, broken, and now dead,
A symbol of innocence lost.
Wow, I actually wrote this last year, wanting to write a happy!Soujiro-based poem. Unfortunately, my writing "skills" turned on me, and this was the result. Actually, this isn't the result. This is the edited result.
Also, if anyone bothered to look past the surface of this, there is some symbolistic-ish stuff. Perhaps that's not the correct word, but…okay, the most obvious one is that the daisy represents innocence. Soujiro's image song is called "Innocence." See, that wasn't so hard…
Oya, I don't own Rurouni Kenshin. Love this little poemlet? Hate it? Either way, please drop a line.
