A poem about two random tributes who fell in love before the games. Told in the pov of the guy.

One

When I first saw you,

I knew in an instant;

You were the one

I fell and I fell hard

But you didn't know

I was the one

You eventually discovered

And we were together

We were one

It surprised me to hear

Both our names called

The weight on my shoulders weighed a ton

The timer ticked

For the games to begin

I mouth to you: run, please run

I fought for you

You fought for me

We worked as one

I watched your murder

And held you close

But you were done

I searched for revenge

Found no satisfaction

You were still gone

Killing was easy

But surviving was hard

Now I have won

I have come home

But I've never felt more lost

Or alone

In victory there is loss

But in loosing there is victory

I picked wrong

No one sees me

Or hears my cries

I am the only one

I've had enough

Enough of this pain

I find the gun

Without hesitation;

I feel sweet relief

Now there's none

But it's better none

Than only one
