"Obito"

The name rolled over her lips like the tears that fell from his eyes. Large, bright brown eyes gazed down at him with concern. Her dark brown hair stopped at her shoulders clad in a long sleeved back top. Stockings ran up to her thighs, her sandals missing, as she walked to him. A light purple apron-skirt with a high waist hid the black shorts she wore beneath it. On her pale cheeks were two purple rectangular markings.

She was the picture of perfection in his dark eyes. Kneeling on the blacked out ground he watched as she came closer. He seemed to blend into the darkness around them; short, spiky black hair and a deep ebony cloak wrapped around his grown form. Her smile was all he could focus on until she was sitting in front of him. Obito remained still as she reached out one hand to touch the scarred flesh on the right half of his face. It was then that he moved, cupping his deformed hand over hers. "R... Rin." He managed to choke out from the confines of his heart in his throat. He could barely think with her so close and touching him in such a loving way.

The smile she wore was the one he wanted to see forever – not her tear stained face as she was pulled away from his dying body. It broke his heart to see her upset and even more so that she looked at him with such intensity. He wanted this moment to be his reality, a never ending reality.

But it just couldn't be.

He snapped upright out of bed. Alone in the darkness of night he sat in his bed, biting back the tears that threatened to spill over. Obito had come to terms with the fact that she wasn't his reality anymore – only a dream. Which is when he glanced to his right. He had told the old Uchiha he would do all he could to help him, but at the moment of awakening he had doubts. Until he realized Rin was truly gone.

Could he really be with Rin again? Would he be able to hold her just as he did when cradling her lifeless body?

Blind faith in one man's plan – that's all he had left now.

-Resolve-

Years later he stood before the 'heroes' claiming him to be a 'villain'. He couldn't understand why such a beautiful plan of a world he wanted to help create could be considered bad. Where there was no war or violence – nothing to disrupt the peace that everyone fought for. In his eyes, this world was a single contradiction to itself.

And it lacked the one person that he would have suffered through everything with.

The day she died he had slipped between the cracks, into the darkness where no one could reach. He had been in his own living hell. Now he would make sure no one had that pain – he would prevent it all and be with her again. A world where Rin would be with him – love him as he loved her back.

Love – it made people do things they would never think of. Corrupted love – lathered in blood and tears of what couldn't be.

Obito had neither.

He had the resolve of love. He hadn't craved revenge nor had he yearned for the death that had taken her away. No. He wanted far more than that. As he stared at his old friend he felt nothing save for the wish that Rin was the one standing there instead.

I'm sorry Rin.

I love you.

Then he closed his eyes – seeing only Rin's smiling face. As he opened them back up he had his gaze steeled – he wasn't who he used to be.
