An echo sounded and vibrated off of the cold damp walls. It was dark in the cave. Absolutely no light was seen, other than the glowing eyes from a large winged reptile.

A growl reverbrated from the reptile.

"Whoa there, bud. Don't get too hasty." A soft, yet strong voice said. This had calmed the animal considerably.

Their footsteps were so loud that each step they took and heard made them anxious. Their hearts waited for something to pop out at them. They waited for the Island's star troublemakers to woo them into their prank.

"Man," said the person. "We've been walking down this cave for a really long time..."

The reptile grunted in agreement.

Suddenly, they heard very faint voices ahead of them. The animal was ready to launch its attack, but its companion stopped him.

"Toothless! Toothless! Hold on a minute, bud..." They fell silent as they listened to the ghostly voices.

It was muffled - too far for the two of them to hear.

Let's get closer..." He whispered. Toothless scoffed, rolling his glow-in-the-dark eyes.

"Don't give me that look..." He whined. He somehow persuaded Toothless to venture forward; and so they did.

Both were careful with their steps; afraid that if they made any noise, the voices would disappear into the wind. Drops of water were the only loud sound within the cave. Not even the voices were strong enough to be heard.

"It seems like the more we walk, the further the voices are... Do you suppose whoever it is, they too are heading forward?" The person questioned. He couldn't see him, but Toothless had shrugged - he too, did not know the answer to that.

Toothless and his friend began to walk faster in hopes to catch up to the voices. The quicker they walked, the more tired Toothless' friend got. The reptile nudged the boy with a whip of his wing and gestured to the saddle.

It was too dark to tell, but to the reptile, he knew his friend had smiled.

"Thanks, bud."

There was one less pair of feet on the ground. The travel time had cut down quite a lot.

"It's a mighty good thing that you're a dragon... Shame we couldn't fly in here though..." The boy spoke.

Toothless wheezed a chuckle. With the swiftness of the dragon, they were both able to catch up with the eerie voices.

"We've both came a long way, huh?" He voiced. The dragon made a sound and tilted his head.

"I mean, we used to kill dragons," both had tensed up at the thought and memories of the old ways.

"But now? Now we're able to befriend your species! We're able to co-habit without any major problems or so... And it all began with us meeting for the first time." He mused.

The dragon nodded his head. His tail curled up to pat his rider and friend on the head.

"Do you see that?" Asked the boy suddenly. Toothless bared his fangs and ran faster on his four legs. His tail remained up; so that it wouldn't flop onto the dry dirt floor.

The light at the end of the tunnel grew brighter and brighter. Both felt warm and light-headed.

"We're almost out!" cried the boy. Toothless shook his head, a smile enlightened itself on the dragon's face.

The growing light exploded into the cave and caressed the two with it's gentle warmth. Once they were out of the cave, they saw luscious greenery all around them. A beautiful lake that shimmered an incredible rainbow from the light. Flowers popped up everywhere.

"How..." He whispered. Toothless roared with amazement.

"We made it... We're here..." The boy breathed out.

"Hiccup?"

Both and turned around at the source of the voice.
