"Let me get this straight," said Valkyrie, entirely seriously. "You were gone for five years… and Vile was around for five years… and when he disappeared, you came back."
Skulduggery looked shifty. "Uh… yes."
Valkyrie blinked. "Wow. Spooky!"
Skulduggery folded his arms. "So, you came into the magical community at about the same time that everyone started having visions of Darquesse."
Valkyrie swallowed. "Hey, yeah! What a coincidence!"
"Almost too much of a coincidence," he mused, looking at her ponderingly.
"Like you and Vile," Valkyrie pointed out.
There was an awkward silence.
"Well, it probably doesn't mean anything," Skulduggery decided.
