Texts

Summary: Calico is having a very rough day, maybe Feitan can cheer her up, even from hundreds of miles away.

(A/N: I wanted a cute little Feitan one-shot because the world needs more Feitan. I'm making up another random OC, sorry not sorry. Very vague mention of abuse, nothing remotely explicit.)

Calico's olive skin was stained with mascara and shimmering eye shadow, and her eyes were bloodshot. The room was dark, shattered glass from the mirror all over the floor. She knew it was coming, dating a fighter at Heavens Arena. It was only a matter of time before Markus got violent. But Calico was never a really rational person.

She reaches over the rubble to her coat, and takes a sleek rectangle out of the pocket. In shaking hands she opens her texts.

Calico: Fei… you still up?

Feitan: I was working .

Calico: sry… I'll txt later.

Feitan: you ok? You haven't typed a single all caps word yet.

Calico: Markus lost another fight today.

Feitan: ...what'd he fucking do? I swear I'll kill that bastard.

Calico: NO! No, its fine I swear. He only broke one mirror this time.

Feitan: I refuse to let you date him anymore Cali. This is too much, okay? Chrollo will let you tag along, he adores you. Just get out of that apartment.

Calico bit her lip, and shakily stood up. She looked around the tiny dark apartment, and nodded her head.

Calico: k, on one condition.

Feitan: what?

Calico: you need to send me a picture of your gorgeous smile, right now.

Calico could practically see him rolling his eyes in that moment. Feitan didn't smile for just anyone, but Calico knew he had a soft spot for her.

The screen lights up with a picture message a moment later. The lighting kind of sucked and it was a little blurry, but Calico knew it would be her lock screen for a long time. Feitan was smiling with his eyes closed, the wall behind him covered in his weapon collection. And on his chin was a blood splatter that came across as more endearing than anything else. He was really the cutest person she knew.

They had met three years prior at a ball in Meteor City, held by a gang in the area. She wasn't much for parties, and instead had slipped off to the library to read. Instead of being alone like she thought, she had found the little ball of rage curled up on a couch. They had hit it off immediately, her patience with him incredible. By her side, his grammar improved exponentially, and he got a lot more confidence from it. Calico got a lot out of the friendship as well, gaining a source of self-confidence and emotional stability. They didn't see each other much, but the friendship became stronger the longer they knew each other.

Her smile only grew the more she looked at the picture. With a small nod she grabbed a duffle bag from the closet and began stuffing it with her belongings. She only grabbed the necessities, like phone charger and a few changes of clothes, and sent Feitan back a picture of it when she finished.

Calico: I'll be there by tomorrow ;P
