Not so Brotherly Love
Zack and Cody, like any brothers so close in age, had their times when they did not get along. For most boys this age, it only appears normal. However, to a somewhat wiser Cody, he feared where this relationship would go. Desperate to try and close ties between himself and his brother, Cody did everything he could to get along with Zack.
"Hey Cody!" he heard his brother call one day. "Wanna go down to the skate park with me? They just opened up a new ramp!"
Cody really didn't feel like skating that day-nor did he think he had the time. He had a project due next week that he desperately needed to start. But then he remembered how he was trying to stay close. "Sure," he said, showing almost no sign of his lie to his brother, "just give me a chance to get my board!" he finished as he went to get his things.
Late one night, Cody was finishing up on his project. Zack, who had the same project, had still yet to begin. Cody was just about to finish for the night and go to bed since he was extremely tired when he heard his brother call to him.
"Cody?" he whispered quietly, not wanting to wake their mother in the next room, "Cody? I can't get an F on this project! Can you help me?" Zack asked hopefully.
Not wanting to waste an opportunity to possibly bond with his brother, Cody sucked it up for the night and gladly helped his brother.
The next morning while giving their presentations, Cody was practically falling asleep in class since he had been up all night. He didn't care if he got in trouble, because he knew his intentions were good.
After a couple of weeks of spending those extra moments with his brother to attempt to become closer and build a stronger relationship, Cody believed his plan was working well. If I keep this up, he and I will be best friends in no time! He happily thought to himself.
Later that day, Cody went out to lunch at the Tipton's casual restaurant. He and Zack went there often-mostly because the staff there loved the two of them and would generally give them a little extra for the same cost.
He sat at the table, finishing his meal. Zack came in, with their mutual friend Bob. He knew Zack was going out to lunch with some friends too, but he hadn't expected him to show up there. In an attempt to be cute, and brotherly, he called his cell phone as a way to say hello and join him at his brother's table. He waited anxiously for him to notice.
Finally he reaches down, took out his phone, and looked at it. Then he put it away and looked back at Bob.
"Who was it?" Bob asked casually.
"Eh, nobody important," Zack replied back.
Cody's heart sank. He didn't know what to think. All his work to try and get closer with his brother—he thought he was doing so well, and that they actually could be friendly and close with each other. Desperate to leave, he left a tip on the table and quietly walked out, trying to not be seen by his brother or by Bob. He got out the door and ran, crying ever so slightly as he went.
Hi…as my regular readers may have guessed…this is somewhat out of the blue for me. Random show, no romance, no slash, nothing. This was an idea I had while actually sitting in a restaurant when my friend walked in. I didn't call her, so the story didn't actually happen. I wrote this in about half an hour, mostly because I was bored. I may continue it, but only if you really want me to. If not, then I'll leave it as is. Tell me what you think!
