Ethan sat on the bench of the picnic tables near the ocean in Reefside. He and Cassidy were on a "date" of sorts. He used the term date freely as Cassidy wanted to talk to him about something, and said to meet him here. He was early, Cassidy wasn't due for another 15 minutes. She'd be early though, she always was.

"15 minutes? You've got to be joking me." He grumbled as he looked down at his watch. As if on cue however, Cassidy walked up to the table and sat down across from him. Ethan smiled, she just lit up his day.

"Hey Cass." He said, smiling at the blond reporter in front of him. Cassidy smiled.

"Hey Ethan...How are you?" She asked. He shrugged slightly. He couldn't tell her that because of an early morning fight, he was literally exhausted, and that he had a huge test tomorrow, that he wasn't prepared for. So he smiled.

"Im a little tired, but other than that, im great. How about you?" He asked. She was very pretty, and even he knew that it was strange that they were "seeing each other". But to Ethan, it didn't matter that he and Cassidy were two different people. 'Opposites attract' he thought.

"Im alright... Listen Ethan, I've been thinking..." She trailed off. It caught Ethan's attention very quickly though. For most people, they would have laughed at the thought of Cassidy straining a thought to think that was Devin's job, and mostly why she kept him around. Ethan nodded tensely.

"Im listening Cass." He replied. Cassidy smiled sadly and her shoulders slumped forwards a bit.

"I've been thinking... That we're better off as friends." She managed to spit out. She sat there looking at the table, not being able to look Ethan in the eyes. She knew that she'd just dropped this on him, and he cared about her, a lot , which made it all the worse. She managed to look up at him. Ethan sat there, his mouth open, no sound coming out. Finally he managed to shake the speechlessness from him and he looked at Cassidy.

"Im ok Cassidy...Be happy..." He said. Ethan removed his legs from underneath the table and stood. He turned to leave when Cassidy called out to him.

"Ethan, don't you want an explanation as to why?" She asked, her voice timid and slightly afraid, something very unlike Cassidy. Ethan turned back around and smiled.

"I don't need an explanation Cass... I just hope he makes you happy." He said. Smiling, Ethan walked away, leaving Cassidy with her thoughts. She watched him leave. 'I hope he makes you happy.' She repeated over and over again. She finally stood, and left the table heading back into Reefside.

"I hope he makes me happy too Ethan."
