Summary: One shot I was working on in class one day. Shows Doyle coming to visit Angel while Cordelia is in her coma.

Angel sat beside Cordelia's bed watching her as she 'slept' in the coma.

He didn't like leaving her during the day, to go to work, he was constantly thinking about her all the time he sat at his desk and was supposed to be sorting though client files.

He was afraid that she would die and he wouldn't be there beside her the last few precious seconds of her life. He'd already lost Connor, he didn't want to lose Cordelia too if he could help it. But he knew that there was nothing he could do to save her.

Even Lorne and the rest of the gang knew there was something seriously wrong, but they were leaving him to watch over Cordelia, knowing that if they tried to get him to do other wise, he would only complain or demand they leave him alone.

Angel squeezed her hand, hoping she's squeeze back to reassure him that somewhere deep inside she was still alive.

But her hand remained limp, like it always was.

He bit his lip anxiously as he stroked the stray hair from her forehead and traced her lips with his fingers.

He felt someone behind him and saw a familiar ghostly figure he hadn't seen in years.

"Doyle?" whispered Angel, squinting his eyes in case his eyes were so tired they were playing tricks on him.

"Hey there mate…. how's princess doing?" asked Angel's deceased Irish friend sitting on the end of Cordelia's bed.

"Not too good…She's…." Began Angel, playing with Cordelia's fingers.

"…. In a coma…. yeah I know…I wish there was something I could do for her mate." Said the ghost, biting his lip.

"You do know me and Cordy…. we…you know?" Asked Angel feeling embarrassed to admit to Doyle who had loved Cordelia when he was alive as much as Angel did now.

"Yeah I know and I'm happy for the two of you. It was only a matter of time." Smiled Doyle, wistfully, his gaze pinned on Cordelia's pale face.

Angel watched Doyle and didn't know if it was the ghost's misty appearance but he was sure that Doyle was shaking, tears glittering down his cheeks.

"I'm guessing you heard about my son too?" asked Angel needing to keep the silence between him and the ghost at bay.

"Yeah sorry about that mate…. there was nothing you could have done for him…. kinda like now with princess…." Said Doyle wiping the tears from his cheeks with a transparent shaking hand.

"You do know this is because of the visions…the very visions you gave her…. the visions she has had to put up with since you died…" said Angel quietly trying to restrain his anger that had quickly being building up since Cordelia had fist gone into the coma.

"I know…. I didn't know she would get my visions…. I didn't know that would have been what could kill her…if I'd known I would have taken the visions to the grave with me. Anything to save princess." Said Doyle trying to calm Angel before the vampire did something he regretted.

Angel took a deep breath and nodded, knowing that the ghost would have done anything to save Cordelia's life. He knew Doyle still loved Cordelia with every part of his being even though he had long since passed away.

"Look I need to go mate…but take care of Cordy for me…I'm sure she'll come through. And when she does tell her, her old pal Doyle is always looking out of her." Smiled Doyle kissing Cordelia's forehead.

"Thanks Doyle." Angel said with the weakest of smiles.

Doyle nodded before he disappeared, leaving Angel to stare at the space where Doyle's figure had been.

The vampire then looked back at Cordelia's figure and bit his lip as he prayed she would come around.

FIN!
