SCRATCHES, SCRAPES, AND BRUISES

He didn't want to move. He could feel the coarse motel sheets pricking against his skin and as long as he remained still, life was tolerable. But when he moved, it was a world of hurt. Every wound ached and every joint throbbed. Dean longed for his memory foam bed back at the bunker.

The motel room door opened, allowing a trail of sunlight to scorch across the room and his bed ablaze. He moaned, burrowing his head into the pillow.

"Dude, what're you still doing in bed? We're burning daylight!"

"Go'way!"

"Dean..."

"Injured man here!"

"Injured?" Sam chuckled. "C'mon, it was a couple of scratches, a scrape, and handful of bruises."

A baleful eye locked onto Sam. "Your point?"

Sam shrugged, biting back another grin. "I've seen you more gravely hurt and you shrug it off and say 'I'm fine' but here you have a few paper cuts and..."

"Paper cuts!" Dean sat up with an indignant groan, pointing at the long, admittedly nasty-looking, scratches adorning his arms. "These are NOT paper cuts!"

"Okay, okay—you're right. Sorry." Sam held up a placating hand before extending a peace offering. "Hey, I brought coffee!"
