Ten Long Years

Disclaimer: I don't own Saiyuki.

To actually understand what's going on you'll need to have seen Episode 14 of the anime series, because one of these characters is only in the anime and not the manga.

Gojyo stood outside a town remembering the last time he'd been there,
ten years earlier.

---

"Gojyo!"
"I'm happy for you."
"Thank you, Gojyo."
"Oh. Here. This looks better on you anyways."
"But, Gojyo, I haven't given you anything as payment. Nothing!"
"I'll look you up in about ten years. Until then the necklace will be
how I find you. I'll sure sweet talk you good and proper then.
That's a promise."

---

And Gojyo's a man of his word. "Has it really been ten years
already?" Gojyo thought to himself. "I wonder if I'll even recognize
her."

Gojyo wandered around the town aimlessly, searching. "Why did I think
this was going to be easy? I'm still half looking for that little
eight year old girl." While he was walking he accidentally bumped
into a young woman.

"Sorry." She hastily apologized before running off. Gojyo only
managed to catch a glimpse of the two buns the girl held her
glimmering black hair back in.

"Weird girl." Gojyo muttered to himself. "I wonder what her hurry
was. Hmm?" Something on the ground had caught his eye, a small green
gemstone on a black string. "It can't be..." He picked it up and ran
off in the direction the girl had gone in. "Hey! Miss! Wait a
minute!" But she was gone. "Damn." He kicked the ground and
wandered off.

That evening Gojyo sat at a bar lost in thought staring at the
necklace. "I won't find her now. This was how I was planning on
recognizing her."

"Hey, buddy." The bartender said. "Where'd you get that necklace?"

"A girl dropped it in the street when we bumped into each other. Why?"

"This girl, did she have black hair? Held back in two buns, one on
either side of her head?"

"Huh? Ya, that's it, you know her?"

"I'm her boss."

"Can you tell me where she lives?"

"Ya sure." The bartender scribbled an address down on a little scrap
of paper. "Here."

Gojyo snatched it. "Thanks buddy!" With that Gojyo was gone.

About half an hour of later Gojyo found himself standing outside a
modest little house. "Well. Here goes nothing." He knocked on the
door.

"Coming!" Someone called from inside. The girl Gojyo had bumped into
that afternoon opened the door. Gojyo stood half in shadow so she
couldn't see his face. "Can I help you?"

"It's been a long time... princess." he said gently.

"'Princess?' No one's ever called me that... except..." She gasped.
"It can't be..."

Gojyo stepped into the light. "If there's one thing I pride myself
on, it's that I'm a man of my word. Like I said, it's been a while.
Ten years to be exact."

"Gojyo!" She cried happily flinging herself into his arms.

Gojyo held her for a moment before stating, "I believe I still owe you
some sweet talking."

"Gojyo..." She smiled resting her head against his chest. Gojyo
kissed her forehead.

"I'm happy to see you too.... Meihou."

Should I make more or is it good as it is?
