MYSTERY BOX CHALLENGE

Dean stared at the wooden box sitting in front of him, an intense look of concentration on his face. The tip of his tongue was even sticking out, a sure sign he was deep in thought. His gaze shifted to the piece of paper next to the mystery box. He frowned, drawing a line through a string of text with a pencil. Many lines preceded it.
He again looked at the box. A sudden smile lit up his face. He reached for the box, only to have it snatched out of his reach by his brother.
"Sam!"
"Oh, no. You're not opening this."
"It's just a puzzle box, Sam."
"Uh huh. I distinctly remember you saying that last time, and we ended up with those little blue things running all over the place."
"Oh, those were just little indigo pixies."
"Only?! Dude, they were everywhere! The fridge, the shower...our beds! And remember—they bit."
"They only bit you."
"Whatever. You're still not getting this box back."
"Ah, c'mon!" Dean picked up his piece of paper and shook it. "I was THIS close to solving the puzzle."
"Nope."
"Spoilsport!"
"Survivalist!"
