Members of the jury, we are here today because there is a witch among us. This witch has tortured and tormented many people and brought about the end of man lives. The name of this witch it Abigail Williams. She, who so purposefully and knowingly tried to have innocent members of our community killed, should herself be hung for witchcraft.

Many people in Salem think this girl a saint. They think her an honest person, a good person, a Christian person. Tell me ladies and gentlemen, what kind of a good Christian person dances? No good Christian dances. No good Christian person makes potions to kill the wives of others either. Nor do they threaten others into silence as Abigail did. She danced in the forest, drank a potion to kill and honest woman, and threatened the witnesses to theses blatant acts of witchcraft into silence. Who does these kinds of things? A witch does these things. Abigail Williams did these things.

Also, think on this ladies and gentlemen of the jury; is it not strange that Abigail was always the first to see these mysterious "spirits" in the court room? She was always the first because she invented these illusive phantasms. As Mary Warren said, she only claimed to see them because the other girls said they did. Would it not be reasonable to say that Abigail scared the other girls into claiming to see whatever she would claim to see? We have already established that she made a habit of threatening other to her will. Judge Danforth himself admits to Abigail using a lightly veiled threat when she felt her will was not being fulfilled. Threats, lies, extortion: all the dealings and ways of a witch. All the things of which Abigail Williams is guilty.

Finally, ponder this; John Proctor confessed to having a relationship with Abigail after she accused his wife, Elizabeth, of witch craft. Why would this man ruin his own good name if it were not true? Is it not also strange that Abigail should accuse the wife of the man she lusts after? It is well known that Goody Proctor is a decent, Christian woman. What other reason would Abigail have other than pure jealousy and spite? Now think of the governor's wife. What possible reason could she have to accuse her? I will tell you. It was the feeling of power. Abigail has so far been able to accuse anyone she liked. Now she wanted to go for the bigger fish. However, by this time, many (yourselves included I pray) began to see her for what she truly was: a liar and murderer.

So what has she done ladies and gentlemen but prove her own guilt now. She has stolen money from her own family and fled. Why would a saint with so much trust in the court have the need to leave? Fear. Abigail feared that her true nature would be discovered. She feared the people would punish her for what she is: a witch.

Why would anyone but a witch commit these many heinous acts and crimes? What need does a saintly Christian have of dancing, potion making, lies, threats, and thievery? A good Christian has no need of them. A witch however does. They are the tools of witches. They are the true power of witches. They represent all that a witch is. Abigail tried to have these innocent people killed. Innocent people ladies and gentlemen. She wanted them to come to harm. She succeeded many times as well. And she did so by doing all the things true witches do: lying, dancing, potion making, and so on. We cannot let her go free for the crime of witchcraft. She cannot go free now that she has committed the very crime she accused so many others of. So many have dies for her lies. So many have suffered for her own spiteful purpose. So many have been hung for her own greed. This greed, these lies, the unchristian acts. Who other than a witch could do this? A witch named Abigail Williams. I rest my case.
