Regret
Maxie Jones regretted ever fighting with Spinelli. As soon as she'd said the words she'd said,she saw something break in him. He just stood there quietly,staring at a wall as if to erase her words from her mind,she'd seen tears in the corner of them and had watched him walk out of the apartment,with one last word after she told him that she didn't need him in her life anymore and that unlike him she had a life. Everything she had told him had been a lie though. She'd turned into "The Bad Blond One" again to protect herself,because she was so hurt by what he had said to her. She wondered for a moment if he actually saw making love to her as a mistake. She didn't know if she could deal with that. He had made her feel beautiful and perfect just like that other time they'd had sex,back in July after Logan Hayes was killed and she was threatened by Anthony Zaccarah.
She had been hurt by what Spinelli had said to her,about how she solicited sex and how she'd only slept with him to stake her claim. She had erupted than and lashed out at him with words she knew would sting him,things she knew he feared and hated about himself.
But she hadn't meant any of it. What they'd shared...their connection---it wasn't pity sex. Her whole plan had been to manipulate him with her body to forget Winifred---but it had been so much more. Then she had to open her mouth the next morning and mention Winifred Stalker Geek. So of course Damian Millhouse Spinelli had been upset! Why wouldn't he be? She had hurt him! 'And badly too', she thought to herself as she read through the journal he had given her for her birthday. The journal he had put so much thought into for her. He had been the only one to remember her birthday in all the commotion of Robin and Patrick's almost wedding and the unexpected arrival of Emma Grace Scorpio-Drake. She smiled through her tears and blew her nose into tissues as she flipped through the pages and remembered his giving her the book and telling her that she was his muse. How she would love to be that again. She flipped to the pages with flower types and their meanings and came to the one that meant regret,the Asphodelus or King's-spear-- just as Johnny and LuLu walked in.
LuLu asked her what was wrong and Maxie just said that she'd messed up and was gonna fix it before bustling out the door with her shoes in her hand.
She bought a bouquet of Asphodelus from the florist before going to the docks. She saw Spinelli and called his name only to see him arrested by to Federal agents who grabbed him,handcuffed him and dragged him off.
The flowers slipped from her hand and she dug out her phone from her purse and called Jason as she drove her car as fast as she could to the police station.
