Shooting Stars
Sam and Dean had just finished a case in Louisiana and was now heading to Colorado to check out a serious case involving four murders—one double homicide—and counting. As they were cruising the countryside, Dean couldn't help but notice the number of houses that had decorative stars on them.
Keeping his eyes on the road, he decided to broach the topic in his usual brusque manner. "Have you seen all the stars on houses lately, Sammy?"
Sam twitched at the irritating nickname but forced himself to contemplate the actual question. "Yeah I have. Why?"
"What the hell is the point of that?"
"It's just for decoration."
"Yeah I know, but a star?"
"What's wrong with stars? Other than, you know, the connotations behind them that not many people know about."
"That's it! It's like announcing you're Pagan and that you worship it."
"Pfft, you're just being paranoid." Sam smiled, rolling his eyes at his brother.
"Tell that to me when one comes screaming at you with an axe." Dean drummed his fingers on his steering wheel in time to the music.
Same just sighed in exasperation at his brother. He hoped that this next spook wasn't too bad. Dean had been a little on edge lately and it was grating on Sam's nerves.
But then, a few weeks after that brutal mission, Dean couldn't stop laughing randomly in silent moments that followed breaks between songs.
"It's not actually that funny." Sam griped, wincing from the recent injury to his shoulder.
"I told you one would come screaming."
"You did but isn't coming at me with a decorative star a little excessive?" Sam protested.
"It doesn't matter, I totally swayzied that mother." Dean was grinning as he drove.
"You could act a little more sympathetic. I still got a star to the shoulder." Sam scolded.
"I would, but I'm too busy being happy about being right." Dean chuckled.
Sam could find no words. So he rolled his eyes as they cruised on.
This is just a random thought that came into my brain while driving. Naturally I thought of Sam and Dean. I hope you liked it. c:
