Hey everyone. This story was written for the September Writing Club's Sophie's Shelf on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I wrote for the Marauder Era Femslash pairing 36. Lily/Alice. Can be seen as companion piece to the Nerves universe I'm currently writing because it takes place somewhere between Loving You (Feels Like Breathing) and Hogsmeade Love Nest. Warning for mentions of sex and actual fade to black sex. If this content is uncomfortable for you to read please turn back now. If you can tolerate reading this content I hope you enjoy Loving You (Hurts Too Much).

Severus Snape is almost giddy when hears rumors of James Potter and Regulus Black having sex in the second floor broom closet. In his mind it always made sense that Potter was in the closet and now he had the proof. He would take this to Lily and she would fall into his arms in despair. He'd be there to comfort her of course. So when he see her vivid red hair going around a corner he hastens to follow her.

And follow her he does. He follows her all the way to the Astronomy Tower where she meets up, to his surprise, with Alice Prewett. Maybe they were helping each other out with Astronomy homework he thinks as he goes closer to listen in on their conversation.

He wants to cry as he watches Alice pull Lily into a kiss that even he can hear Lily moaning into. He was supposed to be the one to comfort her not this other girl. He watches in dismay as the other girl leads Lily into the abandoned tower watching as they kiss and caress each on the way through the door.

He can't get the sounds he hears from his position outside the Astronomy tower out of his head. He should be the one to make Lily make those sounds. Not Alice. When the duo come out of the Astronomy a half hour later, to him it felt like a life time, they give the trembling Snape a strange look.

"Severus," comes Lily's voice bringing with the memory of the sounds he heard coming from her during her and Alice's little visit to the tower, "what's wrong?"

And he wants to scream that life isn't fair. It's not fair. First he had to compete with that lout James Potter and now he has to compete with Alice. He looks at the smiling duo in front of him and decides to lie his hurt away.

"Nothing," he mutters out turning to walk away from them.

"Sev," Lily begins but he doesn't hear what she has to say because he's already halfway down the hill.

He doesn't need her cold comfort. He'd find someone who loved him for him until he could have the woman he wanted. He doesn't turn back to look at her because he knows it would hurt to much. He's not ready to hurt that much yet so he just walks on.

I hope you all enjoyed Loving You (Hurts Too Much). Poor Severus though he really can't catch a break in regards to Lily.
