Aftereffects

Times are changing, and they try to follow.

CHAPTER ONE:

"I have a headache," she complained, burying her face in her hands. No way was she going to school today.

"Take an aspirin," suggested her brother. "Those help."

"Duh," she said. "But aren't they a little strong?"

"Take half."

Seeing no good argument besides "I don't wanna," Katara immediately got an aspirin and cut in half, downing it with a gulp of water. She snuggled up underneath a blanket on the sofa, hoping for the little red and yellow pill to take effect so she could at least relax a little.

Within twenty minutes, Sokka had left for school and Katara felt pleasantly light-headed.

"I'd better check my email," she said out loud to herself, abandoning the TV for the PC.

Soon she was laughing at what her friends had written.

"Oh, god," she laughed, tears coming to her eyes. It wasn't particularly funny, but the sheer corniness of it made her laugh.

Oh, bless this headache! Bless this day off! She should do this more often, the little pill made getting sick so fun –

Oomph.

Aw, man.

Had she really just fallen out of her chair?
