For You

Syaoran blew on his almost frozen hands, while he rubbed them together to generate some heat. He was bundled up in a think coat with a sweater underneath. But in his rush out the door he had forgotten his gloves and now after being outside for almost an hour his hands were freezing.

The heavy snow fall and the chilly winds made it one of the coldest nights of the year. The streets were covered with flashing lights along with crowds of people. Among the mass of people it was easy to get lost or forget the reason you were even out. But not for Syaoran, he had a specific goal in mind.

Truth be told he had forgotten about the holiday all together. He had gotten swamped with work and the whole day had slipped his mind. He wouldn't have remembered at all, but Sakura had reminded him with one statement this morning. 'What would you want for Christmas if you could have anything at all? I would like our first Christmas to be special, that is what I would want. Anyway I will see you later tonight at my house.'

That phrase had sent Syaoran's brain into panic mode. Sakura could at least have told me earlier. She could have told me before Christmas. . . . . hmmm what can I get for Sakura to make this Christmas special.

Syaoran let out a sigh as he glanced at the show windows through the crowds. Nothing seems good enough. . . . Nothing seems right. Syaoran blew on his hands again. How can I make Sakura's Christmas special.

Syaoran walked over to a show window looked inside. The jewelry in the window had huge price tags. Syaoran was surprised they could fit that many zeros on those little tags. Syaoran dug into his pockets and pulled out his wallet.

Syaoran let out a sigh. The last few months had been really bad. The company had almost gone under; Syaoran had to use a ton of money from his own pocket to save it. So his spending money was very tiny. It had been almost wiped clean after paying for necessities.

Syaoran walked into the store. A burst of warm air rushed at him. He walked up to the display case.

"Can I help you with anything?" the shopkeeper asked.

"I'm just looking for a present for my girlfriend," Syaoran told her without looking up. "I want to make this Christmas really special."

"Well do you love her," she asked.

"Yeah, more than anyone or anything else," Syaoran answered. "I'd do anything to make her happy."

"Do you think she feels the same?"

"I'm not sure, I would guess so, but I can't say for certain since I'm not her." Syaoran answered. "But I want to do something extremely memorable."

"Then I think you know what would make this day completely unforgettable." She answered with a wink.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Syaoran told her.

"It is also something a squire does when they get knighted," she giggled.

Syaoran turned bright red and starred at the floor. "I will take that one," Syaoran told her as he pointed to a large diamond ring. It was over Syaoran's budget, but Sakura was worth it.

Syaoran took the box and walked out of the store. "Only the best for you." He whispered as he put away the box.

The End

I wanted to write more. . . something longer, but I couldn't think of anything that would still keep what I was going for in the story. And I liked the whole open ending idea, where the reader could image what happens next. . . . .Still wish it was longer though….

Anyway this is a Christmas gift to my girlfriend. Merry Christmas Christina!
