"Korra, you're gonna cut your fingers off using the knife like that," Mako scolded. Korra let out an angry breath and slammed the knife on the counter. Mako shook his head, and picked up the knife. Holding it with his palm on the dull side of the point with his fingers pointing out and his other hand on the handle and then made a rocking motion.
"That's what I did!" Korra protested.
"You had your hand too close to the blade."
"Whatever," Korra mumbled. Korra left the onion for Mako to cut. She grabbed the head of cabbage and shoved it under the faucet. Water splashed up and soaked her and the counter. Mako made a small disapproving sound, but quickly looked back to the onion.
"What?" Korra hissed.
"That'll bruise the cabbage."
"Really? I need to worry about hurting the cabbage?"
"No, it's more the taste and texture," Mako started but realized Korra wasn't listening. She was now preparing to cut the cabbage. He grimaced as she started her same technique as with the onion. Gently, he said, "Wait. We need to dry the cabbage…and use a similar cutting technique as the onion."
Korra's eyes narrowed to slits, and running her tongue over her teeth pursed her lips. Placing her hands on her hips she stepped in front of the cabbage, "I will do what I want with this cabbage."
Mako stared back at her and set the knife down. He returned the hands on the hip posture. Korra smirked, and reaching behind her grabbed the cabbage and hurled it at Mako.
Ducking, Mako reached for the closest item. He grabbed the onions and flung them at Korra. The white bits clung to her clothes and hair.
"It's on!" Korra roared and grabbed the red peppers. Mako ducked, but Korra air bent a gust and slammed the peppers down on him.
"That's cheating!"
Korra laughed in response and reached for the water chestnuts.
