Van knew that Hitomi's home was on Earth. That didn't stop him from courting her.
The day she started using him, her 'boyfriend', as an excuse to reject dates, he knew he was winning.
Then she asked him if he could come for her. He could, and dearly did just then. But she tol dhim to wait few days, so he did.
It was raining the day he appeared physically on Earth for the third time. Hitomi was waiting forhim by the old race track, where she knew he could come. A young man -- her brother 00 heldd something pointed at him, something that he recognised as being similar to the liquid metal claws on an Alseides when the metal was completely retracted. It was a gun.
"Hitomi, what--?"
"There, you see? Now put it down."
Her brother shook his head.
She placed herself between them and walked to Van. "I'm sorry," she said. "He wouldn't let me go alone."
"It's alright." He smiled and hugged her gently. "Ready to go?"
Her brother stiffened. She nodded.
The light surrounded them and they were gone.
