A/N: Another of my friend's stories. A little snippet about Sheppard teaching (or attempting to teach…) Ronan how to play "Hearts" (the card game). Reviews will be forwarded to my friend and I shall reply as she commands me to:D

Take 'em High, Lead 'em Low

"Pieces of paper?" Ronan Dex snorted incredulously, "This looks more boring than people sitting around watching a box."

"It's not just a box, it's a box with things that move in it and it is called a T.V." explained Sheppard, his voice filled with conviction, "And this is one of the best games you'll ever play."

"Sure," snorted McKay, "Texas Hold 'em is such a better game."

"Aw, just teach the man how to play already," Carson moaned, "You bicker like a bunch a babes and we'll be here all day at this rate. Maybe some of you can afford to take the day off, but-"

"Hey hey hey! Hold it. The reason you are here, Carson, is because you don't take breaks. You've been working too hard on that retro virus, and it is about time you need to take a break. AND McKay, Hearts is a classic game of strategy."

McKay muttered, "Yeah right," as Carson rolled his eyes.

"Anyway, Ronan, all you need to know is as Papa Joe used to say, 'Take 'em high, lead 'em low.' Just watch carefully and I'm sure you can pick it up. Deal 'em up McKay."

"Now what?"

"Well, you have to take three cards and pass them to the right."

"To McKay?"

"Yeah, to McKay."

"Why?"

"It's how you play the game."

"And how is this fun?"

"Ronan, just pass the cards."

"I wish Teyla was here. She'd at least try. Why can't we play Texas Hold em?"

"This is a sort of guy's day, McKay. Besides Ronan will try harder when he realizes how fun this is."

"I was right. Ya all are a bunch of wee babes bickering. I knew we'd be here all day."

"Carson, you aren't helping anything."

"It's about time ya noticed. Can ah leave now?"

"No. Now who has the 2 of clovery-things?"

"Those are clubs, Colonel."

"Yeah, two clubs."

"Why?"

"Because that's the first card that has to be played."

"Why?"

"Because it is."

"Is this it?"

"Ronan, you don't show everyone all your cards. And that is the one."

"Sheppard?"

"What?"

"I quit."

"You can't do that, Carson!"

"I quit also."

"Ronan, you can't leave! This is not allowed in the game. Come back!"

McKay hesitated with a small smirk. "Wanna play Texas Hold'em now, Sheppard?"
