A/N: This something I thought of a long time ago, and have only just written. It tells the tale of the vision Arwen had in the movie, the one where she saw her son, and how it actually came to pass. It's just a little light fun, with a fluffy inside. I hope you enjoy it, and do leave a review!
Notes: I know that in the movie, well the extended one, Arwen's necklace broke, and in the book she gives it to Frodo, but I'm going a little off-canon here, ok?
Elvish Translations:
Ada – Father/Daddy
Nana – Mummy
Meleth nin – My love
Aragorn, crowned Elessar, looked out on the waking sun. This alcove, at the end of the throne room, afforded an excellent view out over the Pelennor, where the sun's first rays were reflecting off the white stone walls of Minis Tirith, turning Osgiliath into a shining gem. They also reflected off the silver streaks that had, finally, made their way into the King's hair. No man could stay young forever.
The city was waking too, Aragorn could hear the sounds of shop-owners, animals and soldiers drifting up to him. He took a deep breath, smiling. He had missed this city, his city. He had been away too long. Reports of orc bands had sent both him and Eomer far into the mountains, following the Mering stream. It had been over a month since he left. Of course, he had not missed the city as much as he had missed-
"Ada!" Aragorn turned quickly at the shout, just in time to open his arms to the small whirlwind that was hurtling towards him. He laughed as he lifted Eldarion high, swinging him around and making the boy squeal in delight. Finally he settled his son on his hip, kissing him on the cheek, and holding him close. He had missed the boy, his youngest child, so much in the long days he had been away.
Eldarion, who had been playing with his father's collar, looked up, to the right of Aragorn, and gave a questioning stare. "Nana? Are you alright?"
Aragorn turned, still holding the boy, to look at his wife. Arwen was staring intently at the two of them, and un-shed tears glistened in her eyes. The King swiftly made his way over to her, putting an arm around her shoulders. "Meleth nin? What is it? Is something wrong?"
Arwen shook her head, smiling at her husband and son. She didn't speak for moment, instead reaching out to gently brush the necklace around her son's neck. Her necklace. His sharp grey eyes seemed to see into her very soul. She let her head fall onto Aragorn's shoulder, smiling to herself. Her husband was giving her a confused look.
"This is what I saw" she stated simply. The confused look deepened, Aragorn's forehead creasing. She smiled up at him, thinking back to that day. "This is the vision that came to me on the road to the Havens. This is the reason I turned back to Imladris, the reason I stayed"
Understanding shone in Aragorn's eyes, and he pulled his wife a little closer. She had spoken of that vision before, and not a day went by that he didn't thank the Valar she had seen it. If she had gone........... But she hadn't, and now his life was more perfect than he ever could have imagined.
Eldarion didn't understand what was going on, but then his parents often got in strange moods and spoke of things that he didn't know. He wriggled a little, until his father set him down, and with a wave, ran off to find his eldest sister. She had promised to read him one of the tales of the Ring War, his favourite story. He left his parents, wrapped in each others arms, staring out at the sun, which had by now risen into the sky, casting a warm glow across the lands.
